Helping Our Hometowns
Atkinson
The Atkinson Police Department is equipped to deal with increased drug trafficking on Highway 20, thanks to help from the Atkinson Community Foundation Fund. Within a month the Fund received enough donations to purchase a police dog. In addition to sniffing out narcotics, the dog is trained to track lost or hiding individuals. The project was too costly for the police budget to support. Now, the department is better equipped to return a lost child or elderly person to safety.
