The Spencer Area Community Foundation Fund encourages people from all walks of life to give back to their community by providing a full range of gift opportunities. A volunteer Fund Advisory Committee works actively to increase charitable giving and award grants to worthwhile organizations that are addressing the emerging needs and future opportunities in our community.
The Spencer Area Community Foundation Fund enhances the quality of life and helps create new opportunities in the Spencer area by:
In June 2000, the Fund Advisory Committee received a $60,000 from a former area resident. The donation was made in honor of the donor’s brother who died in 1985. According to the donor, she had been considering honoring her brother in this way for quite some time. When she heard of the formation of the Spencer Area Community Foundation Fund and its affiliation with the Nebraska Community Foundation, she proceeded with her intentions. This donation is the first major gift the Foundation has received and was a great starting point for future fundraising by the Fund Advisory Committee.
As an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation, all contributions to the Spencer Area Community Foundation Fund are tax-deductible. The Nebraska Community Foundation is confirmed in compliance with the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, and has met the nation’s highest philanthropic standards of operational quality, integrity and accountability.
