Make Tax-Free Charitable IRA Donations by Dec. 31
Longtime Supporters of NCF Use Charitable IRA Rollover
The tax-free Charitable IRA Rollover legislation expires on Dec. 31, 2011. Visit us online for a complete explanation of how donors can make a tax-free charitable distribution from an IRA before Dec. 31, 2011.
Ron and Judy Parks of Papillion looked at different ways of charitable giving, including highly appreciated stocks, gift annuities and life insurance. Ron says the Charitable IRA Rollover is the best fit for their circumstances. Find out why.
Help us help you build stronger donor relationships by making sure your donors get the charitable deduction they expect on their 2011 tax returns. During the month of December, send any contributions you receive to NCF every day. This will help us process contributions and issue receipts for 2011 donations quickly and efficiently.
Any contributions postmarked after December 31, 2011 – regardless of the date on the check – will be counted as a 2012 donation.
If you were not able to attend NCF’s Annual Affiliated Fund Training in Norfolk in November, or if you were there and want reference materials, the handouts and presentations from the plenary and breakout sessions are now available for download. The materials from the Chair, Treasurer and Key Member training track will be available online in the future.
Retaining current donors is as important as getting new ones. Engaging current donors on a deeper level will help you raise funds, turn donors into stronger advocates for your organization and bring in new donors. Watch this brief video in which Susan Howlett talks about how some nonprofit organizations have done exactly that. Then, think about how your fund could engage donors. Could one of your donors serve on a committee? Help with an event? Give a testimonial at a Gathering Event? Brainstorm for options or contact your development staff person for ideas.

The Burwell High School track was built in 2005 with 80 percent of the cost covered by private donations through the Calamus Area Community Fund (formerly the Burwell Community Fund). Students from other schools also train at the facility. In 2011 the Fund helped pay for scheduled maintenance and improvements. Student athletes held a successful “labor auction” to help raise the funds.Read more →
