The Nebraska Community Foundation works with community, organizational and donor-advised affiliated funds serving 250 communities located in 80 counties. NCF and its affiliated funds have reinvested $269 million in Nebraska since 1994.
NCF recommends that you research your community’s needs and make grants accordingly. A targeted application process may be part of that strategy or your fund may choose to include an open application process in your grantmaking approach. This sample application form can help guide your thoughts as you develop a grant application form appropriate for your affiliated fund. Think about your affiliated fund’s mission, vision and values. NCF strongly recommends that your affiliated fund request a report from each proposal you fund. This helps you provide accountability to your donors and gives you evidence of the impact you are having in your community. You can use the information you from the report in future marketing and donor communication/visitation. You may also want to request photos and copies of any printed materials produced as part of the program/project you funded. This is a sample letter notifying an applicant that their grant proposal will be funded. Make sure to include information about the grant ceremony/celebration event if you plan to hold one. We also recommend that you ask the grantee to complete and return a Grant Acceptance Form.
