Affiliated Community Funds Red Cloud Community Foundation
For many generations, residents of Red Cloud have enjoyed a wonderful quality of life. To ensure that the children and grandchildren of today’s residents continue to have that opportunity, many current and former residents are supporting Red Cloud by giving charitably. Join them with your
gifts to the Red Cloud established its Foundation in 1995 and is now working on several projects and is helping to fund key community needs, including:
The Foundation is also considering grants to other projects and areas of community need. These may include health care, parks and recreation, fire and rescue, community infrastructure and others. The Foundation now has over $30,000 in assets and is annually awarding scholarships and grants to key community needs. Red Cloud has been given a tremendous opportunity to expand these community philanthropic efforts. Two former residents of Red Cloud/Webster County have issued a $100,000 challenge grant to Red Cloud to create an unrestricted community endowment fund. On June 19, 2002, the Red Cloud Community Foundation reported that the estate of Lyndall Harris, who died in June, 2001, is providing $60,000 to the Red Cloud Community Foundation. The $60,000 gift helps Red Cloud complete the $100,000 required to match a $100,000 challenge grant issued to the Foundation last May. This is the first community to complete its challenge under the new Nebraska Legacy Challenge initiative of the Nebraska Community Foundation. Together with other donations, this forms a $260,000 community endowment to support Red Cloud now and in the future. We hope to build the endowment to at least a $1,000,000 in the next few years.
