TOOLS FOR DONORS Advantages for Donors to the Nebraska Community Foundation: The following letter was written by Kathy Thuman, president and CEO of Farmers State Bank in Maywood and State Bank of Trenton. Thuman is also a member of the Nebraska Community Foundation Board of Directors.
Personally and through my businesses, I had been randomly donating money for purposes which appealed to me, as they came up. While beneficial to the communities, it was a bit haphazard. An organized charitable fund, the Thuman Family Donor-Advised Fund, that helps meet the charitable goals of myself and my family was an idea with considerable appeal, and I was instantly intrigued. I wanted to become a part of it right away, before the organization of my own community fund. The results of charitable giving to your community are instantly visible to all in the many improvements to the area, both physical and intellectual. The rewards to the donor from charitable giving may not be visible, but they are immeasurably satisfying. It’s a feeling akin to immortality to know that your gift will contribute to the quality of life for generations to come.

Janell Anderson visited me in Maywood to tell me about the Nebraska
Community Foundation! My father had been searching for just such a
vehicle to help him give something back to the towns that were so good
to him - Trenton and Maywood. What an easy, convenient way to bequeath
funds for your pet projects!
