Gift of Life Insurance to Benefit Imperial and NCF
Doug and Judy Gaswick

Doug and his wife, Judy, made a generous commitment to both the Imperial Community Foundation Fund and the Nebraska Community Foundation. Their gift comes in the form of a life insurance policy – $200,000 to ICFF and $50,000 to NCF – that will benefit both organizations in the future. Doug and Judy make tax-deductible contributions to fund the premiums on the policy, and the policy is owned by NCF for the benefit of ICFF and the NCF Endowment.
Helping the Entire State Through a Gift to NCF
Kathleen Thuman

Kathy Thuman made a cash contribution of $50,000 to NCF’s Ford Foundation Challenge campaign, with a pledge of an additional $100,000 over two years.
“I really feel that the Nebraska Community Foundation’s endowment campaign is a great way to give to the whole state, and have some influence over the whole state, because we really are a single community. We’re a small population and we know each other,” Kathy said.

Ron and Judy Parks

Ron and Judy are longtime supporters of the Nebraska Community Foundation. Ron served as NCF Board member and Chair from 1997-2006 and continues to provide guidance through his involvement as an Honorary Board member. Judy began her first term on the Board in November 2010.
Ron used a Charitable IRA Rollover to make a major contribution to the Ford Challenge Grant campaign. The Charitable IRA Rollover law, which expired December 31, 2011, allowed those age 70½ and older to transfer funds from an IRA to a charity tax free.
Gift Endows Exeter Area and NCF
Louisa and Richard Manning

The late Richard Manning admitted that he liked to kid around. However, the charitable gift that he and his wife, Louisa, have made will have a truly meaningful impact for generations to come.
Richard and Louisa Manning, both 1944 graduates of Exeter High School, used a charitable IRA distribution to make a $50,000 challenge grant to the Exeter Community Foundation Fund to establish an unrestricted endowment. The Charitable IRA Rollover law, which expired December 31, 2011, allowed those age 70½ and older to transfer funds from an IRA to a charity tax free. Their hometown community successfully raised over $100,000 in additional funds in just two years, creating a $150,000 permanent endowment.
In addition, Mr. and Mrs. Manning contributed $50,000 to the Nebraska Community Foundation’s endowment. This generous gift holds even more value because it qualified for matching funds from the Ford Foundation Challenge grant.
