How To Direct Gifts to the Nebraska Community Foundation

All gifts received by the Nebraska Community Foundation are used as directed by our donors. The appropriate legal designations for gifts by wills, trusts and beneficiary designations are:

Unrestricted Funds:

These funds may be expended at the discretion of the particular community or charitable organization's Fund Advisory Committee to meet whatever charitable needs and opportunities deserve community or organization priority. To accomplish this, unrestricted gifts may be designated as follows:

"...My gift shall be used at the discretion of the Fund Advisory Committee of the (name of the particular community fund or charitable organization fund) and affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation, Incorporated, with its principal office in Lincoln, Nebraska..."

Designated Funds:

Donors with interests in a particular community or organization can designate the benefits of their gift to that community fund or charitable organization fund. The following wording may be used:

"...My gift shall be used for the benefit of the (name of the particular community fund or charitable organization and account name such as endowment account) an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation, Incorporated, with its principal office in Lincoln, Nebraska..."

Donor Advised Funds:

Donors can reserve the privilege of recommending now or in the future communities or charitable organizations to be considered for grants. A Donor-Advised Fund can be named in your will as follows:

"...My gift shall be for the purpose of funding the (name of the fund) Donor-Advised Fund, an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation, Incorporated, with its principal office in Lincoln, Nebraska."

Endowment Fund:

Donors can designate that the principle of their gift to be invested and only the annual income used at the discretion of the Foundation's Board Directors to meet whatever charitable needs and opportunities deserve priority as follows:

"...My gift shall be for the purpose of funding the endowment fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation, Incorporated, with its principal office in Lincoln, Nebraska..."

Donors desiring to designate gifts, establish named donor-advised funds or endowment funds are encouraged to contact a Foundation representative. You can then be assured that your desires can be fulfilled and your gift used in the most effective manner. In addition, we can provide at no cost computer illustrations of various gift plans and sample documents as needed without obligation.
