New
Initiative for Rural Communities To Be Announced

The Board of Directors of the Nebraska Community
Foundation will announce a new five-year philanthropic initiative for
non-metro Nebraska Communities. The announcement is in conjunction
with the Foundation's annual meeting which begins with a fundraising
training session Thursday, November 9 at Haythorn Ranch north of
Ogallala.
The
Nebraska Community Foundation is a seven-year-old 501(c)(3) charitable
organization with over 180 affiliated funds operating in 174 communities
in 78 Nebraska counties. It has over $9 million in assets and has
distributed over $13 million through its affiliated funds.
The
Nebraska Community Foundation exists to help concerned individuals
mobilize charitable giving for the betterment of Nebraska communities
and organizations. The Foundation assists many communities to
provide or continue essential services such as health care, education,
libraries, community centers, senior centers, parks/recreation, and
scholarships.

- Thursday, Nov. 9, 3 p.m.: Fundraisers Training Session, Haythorn
Ranch
- Thursday, Nov 9, 6 p.m.: Social Hour/Annual Banquet, Haythorn
Ranch with Chuck Hassebrook, Program Director, Center for Rural Affairs,
as Keynote Speaker
- Friday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m.: Nebraska Legacy Challenge Press
Conference, Lake McConaughy Visitors Center
- Friday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m.: Annual Meeting, Board of Directors
- Friday, Nov. 10, 5 p.m.: Board Reception and Dinner (Invitation
Only)
- Saturday, Nov. 11, 8:30 a.m.: Site visits to Foundation
affiliated funds at Wauneta, Imperial and the Kenfield Gallery at
Ogallala
Note:
The Haythorn Ranch is located 17 miles north of Ogallala on
Highway 61. The Lake McConaughy Visitors Center (new and not yet
open to the general public) is at 1450 Highway 61 North, near Kingsley
Dam north of Ogallala.
