Norfolk
Community leaders in northeast Nebraska commissioned an NCF survey of 1,833 students from 15 communities to measure youth perceptions about their community, future education and career plans, and their desire to live in the region in the future. The survey was funded by the Connie Fund in Norfolk and the Nebraska Community Foundation.
Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor dark of night ever kept John Daro, a World War II veteran, of Garrison, Nebraska, from delivering the mail for 51 years. John delivered the mail in rural Butler County and those on his route came to depend upon him. Then John decided to share part of his good fortune by making a gift that allowed him to fulfill his goal of giving back to his hometown with a gift to the Nebraska Community Foundation’s gift annuity program.
