P. Mark Graff Elected to Nebraska Community Foundation Board

P. Mark Graff, NCF Board MemberP. Mark Graff, President & CEO of the McCook National Bank, has been elected by the Nebraska Community Foundation Board to its Board of Directors effective May 9, 2002.  Mark has been appointed to a three year term on the board and will serve until the Fall of 2004.

The Nebraska Community Foundation is an IRS approved charitable organization under code section 501(C )(3) formed in the summer of 1993.  The Nebraska Community Foundation exists to help concerned individuals mobilize charitable giving in support of the betterment of Nebraska communities and organizations.

Currently there are over 150 affiliated funds in the Nebraska Community Foundation representing every area of Nebraska.  Local affiliated funds include the McCook Community Foundation Fund, the Benkelman/Dundy County Development Fund, the Cambridge Development Foundation Fund, the Culbertson Community Improvement Fund, the Beaver Valley Fund, the Hayes County Community Fund, the Imperial Community Fund, the Maywood Public School Foundation, the Medicine Creek Community Fund, the Palisade Community Foundation Fund, the Stratton Community Fund, the Wauneta Community Foundation, the SW NE Community Builders Fund, the GROW Foundation Fund, the Nelson Institute Fund, the Nebraska CASA Association Red Willow County Fund and the Furnas County Family Resources Fund.

Graf is a board member of the McCook Community Foundation Fund, which affiliated with the Nebraska Community Foundation in 2001. The Nebraska Community Foundation Board held its spring meeting in McCook May 9 and 10, at the McCook National Bank.  The directors were hosted at a reception at the home of Van and Jan Korell.

Other actions taken by the board at its McCook meeting included accepting the Wood River Community Foundation as an affiliated fund.  That foundation was first established in 1984, in conjunction with the town’s centennial celebration.

One of the major goals of NCF is to help communities retain a portion of the huge wealth that will be transferring in the next several years.  In Nebraska it is estimated that $258 billion of wealth will transfer in the next 50 years, with Red Willow County seeing an estimated $1.6 billion of this.  By working to keep a portion of this money in the local areas through charitable gifting, these communities have an opportunity to build better and stronger communities.
