Jeffrey G Yost Named President, CEO of Nebraska Community Foundation; Maxine Moul Moves to President Emeritus Status

BLAIR—Jeffrey G Yost of Lincoln has been promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nebraska Community Foundation by its Board of Directors.  The action was taken by the board at its quarterly meeting, held Friday, August 8 in Blair, Nebraska.  Yost succeeds Maxine Moul of Lincoln, who was named President Emeritus by the board.

Yost has served as executive vice-president of the Nebraska Community Foundation since July 2000.  He has been a member of the Foundation staff since January 1998.  Previously, he served as a gubernatorial aide and strategic initiative manager for the State of Nebraska, from 1994 to 1998, and as a community development consultant.  He is a 1990 graduate of the University of Nebraska, with dual majors in economics and agricultural business. Yost will be the top full-time, paid staff member for the nonprofit organization.

Mrs. Moul has been associated with the Nebraska Community Foundation since its inception in August 1993.  She served as the first chair of the Board of Directors, while she was Lt. Governor of Nebraska and Director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.  She was elected President of the Foundation in 1996, serving in a voluntary capacity until November 2000, and then as a part-time staff member.

She will continue to work with the Foundation in strategic planning, communications, fund-raising and education.  She will direct the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary events through November 2003.  Board members, former board members and supporters of the Foundation began the commemoration of the 10th anniversary with a reception at the Homer home of Richard and Janyce Hunt.  Richard served as a board member of the Foundation until November 2002.

“We are pleased to recognize the talents of Jeff Yost, in promoting him to the position of President and CEO,” said board chairman Ron Parks of Papillion.  “Jeff has helped direct the significant growth in endowments for the affiliated funds of the Foundation.”

“The Board of Directors is also pleased to be able to honor the leadership that Maxine Moul has provided to the Foundation throughout its 10 years.  Her vision has helped create a resource for Nebraska’s small communities that will provide funding for community and economic development far into the future,” Parks said.

In other action, Carol Russell of Omaha was elected to the Board of Directors.  She has served on the boards of many Omaha and statewide non-profit organizations, including many board leadership positions.  She holds a master’s degree in pathology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Seven new affiliated funds were approved by the board as well as the establishment of a Legacy Society to honor donors of both cash and planned gifts to the Foundation and its affiliated funds.  The first members of the Legacy Society will be honored at the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Banquet in Lincoln, November 13, 2003.

The Nebraska Community Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization that provides financial management, strategic development and education/training services to communities, organizations and donors throughout Nebraska.  It was incorporated in August 1993 and received its 501(C)(3) charitable foundation status from the Internal Revenue Service in 1994.  It accepted its first affiliated funds in 1994 and now has 150 affiliated funds with assets of $17 million.  More than $35 million has already been re-invested in Nebraska’s hometowns through the affiliated funds.
