Kara Weander-Gaster

Affiliated Fund Development Coordinator

Kara Weander-Gaster is the affiliated fund development coordinator for northeast Nebraska. Kara helps empower volunteer leaders with the training and resources they need to successfully raise funds, engage their community, and increase community impact through effective grantmaking.

Before joining the NCF team, Kara served as the executive director of the Norfolk Arts Center for 14 years. She helped the arts center build community, as they reached a new level of artistic excellence and in 2014 received the Governor’s Arts Award for Organizational Achievement.

Kara was also involved with the development of the Northeast Nebraska Philanthropy Council and the Youth Philanthropy Contest.

She is a Wayne High graduate with a Bachelors of Arts and Science degree from UNL in Arts History and minors in English, history, and anthropology. She attended Syracuse University for art history and museum studies.

In her down time Kara loves taking photographs in Nebraska’s quiet corners and dancing to great music in Norfolk’s most vibrant venues. Kara, her husband David and daughters, Gwenavieve and Annaka enjoy time together playing games and tubing down Pine Creek whenever they can.
