Hometown Intern – Jadyn Schultis

Name: Jadyn Schultis
Hometown: Diller, Nebraska
Affiliated Fund: Diller Community Foundation Fund
School: University of Nebraska – Lincoln

What projects are you working on this summer with your affiliated fund?
This summer I am working on multiple projects to better my community. My projects include finding ways to use social media platforms to spread awareness for our fund, updating the website with new pictures and information, working on our annual Diller Picnic, and coming up with projects for our Youth Philanthropy.

Why did you want to take this opportunity to participate in this internship?
After I had finished my first year of college, I knew I wanted to return to my hometown for the summer. Diller has built me into the person I am today. The opportunity to give back to the very town and people who have done so much for me seemed like the perfect way to spend my summer. Diller Community Foundation Fund does so many amazing things to improve our small town, and I am proud to have the opportunity to make an impact myself.

How would you describe the experience so far?
My internship began very recently, but so far, I am more than excited to continue the Hometown Internship program. I work with an amazing group of people who challenge me to think deeper, work harder, and, overall, become the best version of myself. This is an amazing opportunity, and I already see our hard work taking Diller to amazing places. I am constantly learning new information about Diller each day.

What do you appreciate most about your community?
I appreciate the welcoming atmosphere Diller constantly shows. Whether it is driving through town, stopping at the Post Office, or grabbing groceries at the store, everyone checks in on you and your family. I love that my community knows me by name and pushes me to be involved in multiple different organizations. When I bring my friends home from college, my community opens its arms and welcomes each person with an open heart. It amazes me how Diller never fails to support, build, and love its community members.

What excites you the most when you think about the future of your community?
Diller is filled with ambitious residents who work hard to see our community grow. I know that the future of Diller is in the hands of extraordinary people who want what’s best for our future. This small town has big dreams that I know will make Diller an even more amazing place to be. I am excited to see what big projects make an impact on this community and where they will go in the future.

What are you looking for in a place to call home?
The place that I call home is a place where I can be who I am, a place with big ambitions  for the future, and a place with a welcoming atmosphere. I would love to settle down in a small town, even Diller, that works together as a community. I hope to find a community that works hard to adapt to our ever-changing world and has multiple opportunities for its members.
