The Nebraska Reporting Fund was established to:
- Increase the quality, quantity and understanding of investigative journalism
- Foster an informed citizenry and strengthen democracy in Nebraska
- Support the gathering and dissemination of information in a nonpartisan manner about important public-policy issues facing the state and its communities
