The Pender-Thurston Education and Community Foundation Fund is dedicated to the long-term viability of the community so that residents of Pender, pop. 1,208, and the surrounding area can continue to enjoy the tremendous quality of life that only a small town can provide.
A volunteer Fund Advisory Committee works actively to increase charitable giving and award grants to local worthy causes and projects that are addressing emerging needs and future opportunities in our community.

A permanent account whose assets are invested to generate an ongoing source of income year after year. Investment earnings from the endowment are used to support community improvements and programs. The Fund Advisory Committee determines how the money generated from the endowment will be used to benefit the community now and in the future.

Corky Malmberg Science Education Endowment
This Account is a permanent endowment in memory of CoraLynn “Corky” Malmberg, a long-time Pender Public Schools teacher. The purpose of the Account is to fund science activities and adventures at Pender Public Schools that will enrich science education and cultivate a love of science in students. Preference is for grants for elementary and middle school projects.
Larry R. Larson Educational Account
An endowed account to pay for training or post-secondary education for adult residents of the Pender or Thurston, Nebraska communities, as determined by the Fund Advisory Committee of the Pender-Thurston Education & Community Foundation Fund. The training or education shall have an economic benefit to the communities of Pender and/or Thurston. Economic benefit could be provided by, for example, entrepreneurship training or education that qualifies an individual to provide a needed service in the community or increases the earnings capacity of individuals in the community.
To receive gifts in memory of community members, gifts to honor anniversaries, retirements, special occasions, etc. Contributions will be used for community betterment projects in public places.
Nye/Moseman Heritage Endowment Account
This account is a permanent endowment for the purpose of supporting the Heritage Museum of Thurston County, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) organization. Decisions regarding grants for specific projects, activities, and programs of the Museum will be made by the Pender-Thurston Education & Community Foundation Fund Advisory Committee.
Pender Community Center Account
An account to help support the construction of a new community center building in Pender, Nebraska.
