Hometown Intern – Logan Wiedel

Name: Logan Wiedel
Hometown: Hebron, NE
Affiliated Fund: Hebron Community Fund
School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln

What projects are you working on this summer with your affiliated fund?
I am working on Thayer County Big Give, collaboration with TCEDA and the City of Hebron, and our connection to businesses within the community.

Why did you want to take this opportunity to participate in this internship?
I was told this internship was going to give me a better appreciation and connection to my community and establish professional relationships that would help me in my future career.

How would you describe the experience so far?
I have enjoyed my experience to this point. I have had a great time going to meetings and working on things for my community. It makes me feel like I know what is going on in Hebron and leads me to think that I will eventually have some impact on my community.

What do you appreciate most about your community?
I really appreciate how many community events there are. It always seems like someone is doing something that is open to everyone and benefits the community as a whole. I also like how close my community seems to be. Everyone knows each other and people look out for one another.

What excites you the most when you think about the future of your community?
The fact that there are people starting businesses every year is what excites me the most. Growth in small communities is vital to their success. When new people come in and bring their business it makes me think that small communities like mine have a bright future.

What are you looking for in a place to call home?
Right now, the most important thing to me is a place where I can work a job that I want and have the ability to advance in that career. I also look for a place where I am surrounded by people that are kind and care for one another.
