What excites you most about returning for another summer as a Hometown Intern?
I am excited to return to my hometown because I can bring my ideas to the table and give our community members more of a voice so our town can improve.
What did you learn about yourself and your community during your internship last summer?
Something I learned about myself last summer is how much love and passion I have for my hometown, Deshler. Something I learned about my community last summer is how many ideas community members have for our town and how passionate our community members are about seeing our town grow.
If you were describing your hometown to a potential visitor, what would you say?
Deshler is a small town but filled with loving and hardworking people who want to see each other become successful.
Everyone has gifts and talents to share. What do you hope to share with your hometown this summer?
I have always loved understanding others, and I hope to hear all voices from my community members this summer to help their ideas come to life.
What should older adults know about your generation of Nebraskans?
Older adults should know that my generation still cares about our town and community members. We have many ideas for the future and would like to see our towns thrive.
How does belonging play a role in your attachment to your hometown?
Belonging plays a huge role in the attachment of my hometown because it makes me feel appreciated and seen, which makes me want to come back and give back to my community.
What are your hopes and dreams for the future of your community?
My hopes and dreams for my future community are to have community members united through all age groups and excited about the future of Deshler.
What are you looking for in a place to call home?
I am looking for a family-oriented, motivated, and loving town to call home. Luckily for me, I can describe Deshler this way.
If you were designing a future for yourself in your hometown, what would that look like?
I would like to describe my future in Deshler as me giving back to my community and giving everyone in the community a voice to be heard.
What’s a piece of advice you have for first year Hometown Interns?
A piece of advice I would give to a first year Hometown intern would be to embrace your own ideas because your community members care about your thoughts.
