What does it feel like to be back in your hometown this summer?
It’s great to be back in my hometown this summer. I am super excited! I am so happy to be back around these amazing people and this great town. I am also super excited to help the community this summer!
What are some of your hometown’s greatest assets?
Some of Diller’s greatest assets would be the Opera House, the community, and the Diller Picnic. The Opera House is a great asset because we hold so many different town events in this building. The community is amazing in Diller; we all have open arms to anyone we know or that we meet. The Diller Picnic is an amazing event that helps us gather more people and welcome visitors to the friendly town of Diller.
What about the NCF Internship experience stands out to you so far? Why?
What stands out the most to me is getting to meet new people, learning what is great about their community, and hearing what they are doing to make it better! I am also excited about the youth serviceship camp that we are putting together. I can’t wait to show the kids what is so great about our town and to hear their ideas to draw more people to it!
Everyone has gifts and talents to share. What do you hope to share with your hometown this summer?
I love to get things accomplished; if you need help, I would love to help. Being able to get things done benefits us interns and other community members as well!
What should older adults know about your generation of Nebraskans?
I want older adults to know we are here to help! If you need or want help trying to do something, we are here! If you have ideas, let us know!
How does belonging play a role in your attachment to your hometown?
I feel like I belong in Diller, and that inspires me to help it grow! Belonging to Diller makes me want to keep coming back to help my community thrive.
What are your hopes and dreams for the future of your community?
My hope and dream for the future of Diller is to improve the town as much as possible! I want to have more activities put on in town so more people come and feel welcome. A dream I have is to put a coffee shop in town, creating a nice place to relax during the day or anytime!
What are you looking for in a place to call home?
When looking for a place to call home I think of a safe community with open arms for those already living there and for others wanting to come visit or see the town. A place to call home would be somewhere where I see the good in the town and not just see what we need to fix.
If you were designing a future for yourself in Greater Nebraska, what would that look like?
A future I always want is to be welcomed! Having a welcoming community is amazing. Feeling like you belong is probably the best feeling you’ll ever feel for the rest of your life!
What’s a piece of advice you have for older generations of Nebraskans?
One piece of advice I have would be to use us if you need anything. We are here to help the community.
