What do you love about your community? What are some of its greatest assets?
I love my community because everyone knows everyone. If there is an event, there is always a great amount of support and most of the town will be there. Some of Deshler’s greatest assets are the walking trail, Deshler Daze, baseball fields, fairgrounds, school, and healthcare facilities.

What made you want to pursue an NCF Hometown Internship?
I chose to pursue an NCF Hometown Internship because I have always heard wonderful things about the experience of meeting other interns and gaining new information. I wanted a new experience that would help me find out more about my hometown.

What projects are you working on this summer?
This summer I am working on creating a new brochure about Deshler, making a business list so that visitors can go around and have some background of the business, and others that are not quite planned yet.

What do you hope to learn or experience?
I hope to learn how I can better Deshler with the help of different community members and others I meet through this experience.

How would you describe the opportunity so far?
This opportunity is exciting because you always have to be up for a new adventure. Everyone I work with and have met is helpful and wants to improve our town, so it is very fun to work together.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future of your hometown?
My hopes and dreams for the future of my hometown are to see it grow. Not only with the number of people but the amount of businesses and overall liveliness of it as well. We have many buildings and areas but need to make them into something that can draw more attention from visitors.

What are you looking for in a place to call home?
In a place to call home, I want to have a community I fully trust. I want a place where I can always feel safe and have a supportive atmosphere where I am happy to work, live, and raise a family.

Could you see yourself living in Greater Nebraska in the future?
Yes, I could see myself living in Greater Nebraska in the future. I enjoy the small town feeling of everyone knowing everyone. The community likes to work together and help each other at all times, and I do not want to go away from that.
