What does it feel like to be back in your hometown this summer?
I feel excited to come back to my hometown, to see it through a different perspective and to make a positive impact on the community I grew up in.
What are some of your hometown’s greatest assets?
One of our hometown’s greatest assets is the fairgrounds, including the activity building that is used throughout the year. Another great asset is the way our community comes together in times of need. Lastly, the number of activities we have in our school is another great asset.
What about the NCF Internship experience stands out to you so far? Why?
What stands out to me about NCF is how everyone is motivated to make their towns and communities a better place to live.
Everyone has gifts and talents to share. What do you hope to share with your hometown this summer?
As a current advertising major, I hope to share my skills in social media by bringing attention to events, projects, and ideas that our community fund and town has.
What should older adults know about your generation of Nebraskans?
Older adults should know that our generation is confident in our ideas, and we like to use social media to express our vision.
How does belonging play a role in your attachment to your hometown?
Feeling like you belong in your community makes you want to stay or come back. It even encourages you to give back to the community.
What are your hopes and dreams for the future of your community?
I hope to see many businesses open and to help our current businesses grow. I also hope to see our social media pages active so we can spread important information and share what is so great about our town.
What are you looking for in a place to call home?
I am looking for a place where the community wants the best for each other, a place that comes together to make their town improve, and a place that is family orientated.
If you were designing a future for yourself in Greater Nebraska, what would that look like?
I would design my future to be in a small town that has lots of businesses, families, and friends in a place that feels safe and is full of love.
What’s a piece of advice you have for older generations of Nebraskans?
The piece of advice I would give to the older generations is to keep being you, but to also recognize how our world is changing, such as social media being a huge part of today’s world. Communicate with the younger generation about your ideas but also listen to ours so we can have the best of both worlds.
