The 2025 NCF Communities Bus Tour was one for the books

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞! The 2025 NCF Communities Bus Tour was one for the books!
Over 30 hometown builders from across Nebraska hit the road together, exploring the good work and great people behind thriving communities in Lemoyne, Ogallala, Sidney, Potter, Chappell, Brule, Grant, and Imperial.
We celebrated the vision and heart of the Keith County Foundation Fund, Sidney and Greater Area Fund, Perkins County Community Foundation Fund, and Imperial Community Foundation Fund — each showing what it looks like when hometowns dream boldly and invest for the future.
Along the way on the 2025 NCF Communities Bus Tour, we:
▪ Shared stories and s’mores around a bonfire on the beach at Lake McConaughy
▪ Learned about “framing your narrative” from a man who crochets eggs and a woman who opened a yarn shop in downtown Ogallala
▪ Met entrepreneurs in Sidney and Potter who are shaping what invitation and inclusion look like in small towns
▪ Played a round (or two!) of pickleball inside Brule’s repurposed schoolhouse-turned-activity center
▪ Practiced welcoming neighbors by speaking in Spanish in Perkins County
▪ Heard Imperial’s “secret sauce” for bringing former residents home — and helping them plug into meaningful volunteer work

This journey was about more than miles. It was about connection, curiosity, and the power of community endowments and asset-based community development to fuel a sense of belonging across Nebraska.

Everything we need is right where we are — and these communities are proving it.
